Highlight of my recent trip to NYC was the Mike Kelley retrospective at MoMA PS1. A Michigan native, schooled at the University of Michigan School of Art and CalArts, Kelley’s interpretation of our culture is disturbing, funny, whacked-out, and powerful. He worked in a mind-boggling range of media and his sense of craft was meticulous. Cultural references from my childhood were everywhere.
